Project: Pond Radio - Deep pond soundscape with bio-electricity

Rasa Smite & Raitis Smit are artists, researchers and cultural innovators, working with science and emerging media since mid 90s. They are key founders of RIXC – Riga based center for new media culture in Riga. In their artistic practice they work together creating networked, visionary, and innovative artworks that explore the invisible properties of digital technologies and networked media. Acoustic dimension has always been an important part in their work. Selected projects: “Xchange Net.Radio Network”, collaborative streaming experiments in the cyberspace; “Talk to Me (Human-plant communication)” and “Biotricity (Bacteria Battery /Pond Radio)” series, using the sonification and wirelss / networked communication for exploring the environment, local ecosystems and inter-species communication.
